The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bucharest asked us to prepare the graphic design of a non-typical calendar for 2010. The effect of our joint work was the extensive publication of more than 200 pages presenting a wide look at Poland and Romania in the interwar period. Originally, it was to be a “normal” calendar consisting of 12 charts, however the bulk and extreme beauty of the collected illustration material encouraged the publisher to prepare a book. It describes, among other things, the phenomenon of the folk art, avant-garde movements and architecture in both the countries, which bordered each other before the Second World War!
Graphically, the calendar is a contemporary interpretation of the Polish and Romanian interwar motifs, which together with the unusual period photos create a coherent entirety. We used 12 colours, one for each month, to emphasise the colourfulness and diversity of that exceptional period. The production of this multicoloured publication turned out to be a considerable challenge. We send our regards to the printers who demonstrated patience and extreme precision in their work!
